In a January 15, 1969 letter to Michael Barrier,
Barks wrote: "The office wrote me to ask if I would do a story for
Droopy. Then asked for another, and so on."
In another letter to Barrier, from December 11, 1969, Barks wrote: "The
reason I happened to do the Droopy scripts in 1952
and 53 is that the office wrote me a note or phoned and asked me to try
to write them. I never went out of my way to ask for those sorts of jobs."
