Description: Written after a phonecall from Ken Peterson to Barks. In this letter, Ken Peterson inquired if Barks was at liberty to do outside work under the terms of his contract with Whitman (the division of Western Publishing that produced the comic books) and requested "a story idea for Scrooge McDuck, which would be suitable for an animated short."

The Disney Archives has preserved a file of correspondence between Peterson and Barks on this (rejected) cartoon.

Date: [1956, circa mid-June]
Type: Letter, typescript.
Sender: Carl Barks
Receiver: Alice Cobb

Description: Finished version of handwritten draft.

Status: Apparently, this version is lost. Thomas Andrae article "The Expurgated Barks" seems to suggest that it still exists, for example by mentioning that it is a typescript, but this information may be based on Michael Barrier's mybibliotitle, which mentions that Barks "says that the typed version that was actually mailed was identical to the draft, or nearly so." Questions: In Barrier's mybibliotitle, (page 197), the sender is mentioned as being Donald T. MacLaughlin. Maybe this is a mix-up with a November 20, 1958 letter from Donald T. MacLaughlin to Carl Barks?
